Anatoliy Volnov

Anatoliy Volnov was born in March 1939 in Moscow. Upon leaving school in 1956 he worked at various Moscow rubber technical enterprises. In 1970 Mr Volnov graduated from the M V Lomonosov Moscow Institute of Refined Chemical Technology as a Chemical Technology Engineer.

Anatoliy undertook postgraduate work and presented a thesis and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science. From 1989 till 1999 he studied at the Moscow Manager Training Centre of the G V Plekhanov Academy of Economics and gained a diploma on efficiency in methods of R&D management.

In 1991 Mr Volnov studied on the special management programme at the Business School of the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) in the USA. He holds 100 patents and publications on technologies in tyre production. He has been awarded the title of Honoured Inventor of Russia, the state prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, and he is an Associate of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

Until 2002 Mr Volnov worked at the Science and Research Institute of Tyre Industry (Moscow). From 1978 till 1992 he was Deputy Director — Science, and in 1992 became Director of the Institute.
