Alexei Gurin

General Director, Chairman of Management Board

Alexei Gurin graduated with an honours degree from Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University in Moscow in 1985 with a diploma in Engineering. In 1998 he gained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance and Accounting from Toronto University in Canada. Mr Gurin also holds professional certificates as an expert in securities and investment portfolio management from the Canadian Securities Institute in Toronto.

Mr Gurin started his career in 1986 as Sales Engineer at the Foreign Trade Organization Stankoimport — then a part of the system of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the USSR. From 1989 till 1991 Alexei worked as Marketing Director of Benetton in Moscow. From 1991 till 1993 he occupied simultaneously the position of First Deputy General Director of MOST-TORG — a part of the MOST Group of companies, and that of President and Partner of Rostrade Company — a Moscow retail network engaged in the sales of exclusive cloths which was founded by Mr Gurin in 1991.

From 1993 till 2001 Alexei Gurin worked abroad for several financial institutions including Merrill Lynch.

He joined Amtel-Vredestein in December 2001 as Vice President — Corporate Finance and became its Finance Director in May 2002. In May 2004 he was appointed as General Director. Acting in this capacity he enacted and completed the acquisition of Vredestein Banden BV, a Dutch UHP tyre manufacturer, and also led the first private placement of the Group’s shares in 2005.
